Final cut
Final cut is the last stage in diamond cutting. Star facets together with the upper and lower facets are now finally cut. It is a very sensitive process. A diamond which is almost one carat can sometimes get a cut that influences the brilliance in a negative way if the person who does the cutting tries to keep the number of carats up (e.g. around 1) to make the diamond more valuable. However, associations like GIA always take the flaws in final cut into consideration and note them in their report that goes with the diamond if they discover it.
